Halloween: Someone Came Knocking

Halloween Activity for Elementary Music lesson that addresses ELA standards along with music standards!

Fantastic Activity for teaching that music creates mood. Use the poem, "Someone," by Walter de la Mare to integrate the arts and literature. Your admin will love it!!

Based on the 2014 standards, use this activity in October with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders to teach how composers use instrumentation and sound effects to enhance a poem and create a spooky mood.

GREAT, professionally recorded soundtrack, composed specifically for this activity by Seneca award winning composer, Jared DePasquale.

Ask your students—

“Do you think music can be scary? Why or why not? Do you think composers can create a mood, like happy, sad, funny, silly, scary, spooky? How?”

Includes lesson plans, poster, and picture cards as well as MP4 soundtrack and a demo track!!

Hopefully, when you repeat these same questions at the end of the lesson, their answers will be different and more informed, based on their listening and active experience.
